# `GSGlyph setNameFastCache:`

*Instance Method*

Assigns a glyph name and updates name lookup in the containing font.

## Declaration

## Parameters

- `name` — The glyph name.

## Discussion

The new name is available through name lookup in the containing font. This method does not update glyph information, undo, observation, or change notifications. Use [`GSGlyph.name`](/Core/GlyphsCore/GSGlyph/name) for general renaming.
