# `GSFont safeSuffixForGlyph:`

*Instance Method*

A suffix that makes the glyph name unique among the local glyphs in the font, or `nil` when no suffix is needed.

## Declaration

```swift
func safeSuffix(for glyph: GSGlyph) -> String?
```

```objc
- (NSString *) safeSuffixForGlyph:(GSGlyph *) glyph;
```

safeSuffixForGlyph_(glyph: GSGlyph) -> str
```

## Parameters

- `glyph` — The glyph whose name to check.

## Discussion

Numeric suffixes have three digits and do not include the separating period.
