# `GSFont normalizedLocationsDefaultMaster:masterIds:glyph:error:`

*Instance Method*

Returns normalized design-space locations for selected masters and Intermediate layers.

## Declaration

```swift
func normalizedLocationsDefaultMaster(_ defaultMaster: GSFontMaster, masterIds: [String], glyph: GSGlyph?) throws -> [[OTAxisTag : NSNumber]]
```

```objc
- (NSArray<NSDictionary<NSString *,NSNumber *> *> *) normalizedLocationsDefaultMaster:(GSFontMaster *) defaultMaster masterIds:(NSArray<NSString *> *) masterIds glyph:(GSGlyph *) glyph error:(NSError **) error;
```

```python
normalizedLocationsDefaultMaster_masterIds_glyph_error_(defaultMaster: GSFontMaster, masterIds: list[str], glyph: GSGlyph) -> tuple[list[NSDictionary<NSString *,NSNumber *>], NSError]
```

## Parameters

- `defaultMaster` — The master that defines the zero location.
- `masterIds` — Master and layer identifiers to include.
- `glyph` — The glyph whose Intermediate layers are included, or `nil` to use only masters.
- `error` — On output, a pointer to an error object that describes why the method failed, or `nil` if no error occurred. If you are not interested in the error information, pass `nil` for this parameter.

## Discussion

Locations are keyed by OpenType axis tag. The default master defines the zero location. Active Intermediate layers of the glyph are included when their layer identifiers are listed in `masterIds`.
